5 Desi Summer Fruits To Simmer Down The Heat

Summer is blowing hot fire on us and we need to keep our body ready. These 5 summer fruits will provide nutrition and keep you cool.

Summer is here. It’s time to feast on the freshest and tastiest summer fruits and vegetables. But with all those fresh fruits and vegetables comes another summer challenge: How do you keep them from being looted before you eat them? These desi fruits have a longer shelf life and can offer you plenty of nutrition to cope with the harshest hot winds.

We contacted nutritionist Dr. Rohini Patil. She has given us ideas about these five desi summer fruits that have a good shelf life and can be eaten throughout the summer.

Five summer fruits that will help you stay cool this season:

1. Watermelon

A favorite summer fruit, watermelon is an excellent source of vitamin C, fiber, and lycopene – an antioxidant that may help prevent cancer. Watermelon contains amino acids like citrulline and arginine, which help boost nitric oxide production. This improves blood flow throughout your body.

2. Strawberry

“Strawberries are the perfect summer fruit. They’re sweet, juicy, and healthy. You’ll be surprised to know that they have more vitamin C than an orange and are a great source of fiber. They’re packed with antioxidants that protect you from free radical damage. This keeps your skin fresh and protected from the summer heat.” – says Patil, who is also the founder and CEO of Nutracy Lifestyle.

3. Lemons

Lemon is refreshing and can be used to prepare drinks and recipes served during summer. Lemons combine with warm water and honey (or another sweetener) to make a refreshing drink.

This drink helps fight infections caused by bacteria, such as colds, flu, or food poisoning. These are some of the summer health issues you can avoid by including lemon in your diet.

4. Banana

Patil says, “Bananas in summer are a treat for anyone looking for a good source of potassium and vitamin B6. They are said to be the best fruit for digestion as they contain pectin, which helps prevent constipation. Bananas are also rich in magnesium, and it is also rich in copper, which helps relax muscles and reduce stress.”

5. Cucumber

Cucumbers are ideal for summer because they are deficient in calories but high in water and keep us hydrated in hot weather. These green capsules should be on your summer grocery list because they’re refreshing, low in calories, and loaded with nutrients. The best way to get the most health benefits from cucumbers is to eat them raw.
